Maximize Carpet Cleaning Leads: With Google Maps and The Power of Diversification

Welcome to the world of carpet cleaning—a lucrative industry filled with opportunities for those willing to hustle, learn, and optimize their marketing strategies. The carpet cleaning business landscape is ever-evolving, demanding adaptability and innovative marketing techniques from its players. Navigating this complex environment successfully requires consistency, dedication, and a diversified marketing plan.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into the essential strategies for carpet cleaning businesses to thrive. Our goal is to equip you with the essential knowledge and tools needed to outperform competitors and scale your operations efficiently.

Understanding Carpet Cleaner Success in 2024: Beyond the Basics

The carpet cleaning industry, like many others, has undergone significant changes. Gone are the days when a simple phone book listing was enough to rake in clients. Today, carpet cleaner success hinges on a multi-faceted approach that leverages digital marketing, customer relations, and strategic planning.

Diversifying Lead Sources: A Must for 2024

Why is it crucial to diversify lead sources? Relying solely on paid ads for leads can be risky and unsustainable. A well-rounded approach to lead generation will not only improve conversion rates but also future-proof your business. Here’s how you can diversify:

  • Paid Advertising: While essential, paid advertising should be just a piece of the puzzle. Aim for a 3 to 1 ROI in your paid campaigns, but remember, it’s just a starting point.
  • Repeat and Referral Database: An organized system for tracking and nurturing repeat customers and referrals can multiply your return on investment.
  • Social Media Outreach: Platforms like Facebook and Instagram serve as excellent channels to reach prospects and engage with your community.
  • Referral Partnerships: Building a referral network with businesses and organizations can be invaluable for lead generation.
  • SEO and Content Marketing: Invest in a solid SEO strategy to capture organic traffic and maximize your digital reach.

The Importance of Building and Maintaining a Referral Database

Creating a robust referral database is akin to planting seeds for long-term growth. Here’s why a referral base is lifeblood for long-lasting success:

  • Trust and Credibility
Referrals come from trusted sources, making them more likely to lead to closed deals.
  • Cost-Effectiveness
Referral marketing is typically more affordable compared to other strategies yet yields high ROI.
  • Enhanced Customer Experience
Happy customers sharing their experience inevitably leads to increased brand awareness.

Actionable Tips for Building a Referral Database:

  • Provide exceptional service to create advocates out of customers.
  • Encourage satisfied clients to refer friends and family.
  • Utilize technology to track and nurture your referral network.

Mastering Local SEO: The Key to Unlocking Carpet Cleaner Success

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) remains a cornerstone of digital marketing success. But how can you optimize for local audiences?

Optimizing Google Maps for Carpet Cleaners

Google Maps can be a game-changer for local carpet cleaning businesses aiming to maximize visibility. Google Maps listings are geocentric, referring to search results based on location. Here are some key considerations:

  • Complete the Verification Process: Verifying your business on Google improves search visibility and credibility.
  • Leverage LSAs (Local Service Ads): These ads appear above standard paid ads and map listings. They require reviews and pay-per-call setups.
  • Maximize Proximity Algorithm: Understanding how Google’s proximity algorithm works is essential. You typically won’t appear outside a 15-mile radius.

Strategic Use of Photos and Reviews

Google Maps isn’t just about business names and addresses; visuals and customer engagement matter.

  • Photos with Embedded Data: Ensure photos uploaded include embedded location data to enhance visibility.
  • Consistent Review Generation: Get reviews regularly to maintain a positive profile; focus on genuine customer interaction and response.

Improving Citations and Competitor Analysis

Consistency is key in local SEO, and citations play a vital role. When citations are consistent, search engines are more likely to trust your business information.

  • Utilize services like BrightLocal, Moz, or Yext to manage citations effectively.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to uncover citation opportunities you might be missing.

Crafting a Digital Dominance Plan: A Roadmap to Carpet Cleaner Success

Having a digital dominance plan is essential for maintaining a stronghold in the carpet cleaning arena. Your plan should cover both online and offline marketing tactics.

Integrating Marketing Channels

Seamlessly connect your various marketing channels—websites, social media, paid ads—to create a unified brand experience.

  • Cross-promotion
Encourage social media followers to visit your website and vice versa.
  • Coherent Messaging
Ensure your brand message is consistent across all platforms.

Upholding High Customer Service Standards

While digital strategies are crucial, they must be backed by excellent service delivery.

  • Focus on training your team to provide a world-class experience.
  • Implement follow-up systems to strengthen relationships and encourage reviews.

Empowering Business Growth: Strategies, Tools, and Resources

Increasing market share isn’t just about getting more leads; it requires a strategic approach to growth.

Coaching and Training

Invest in coaching and training resources that empower both you and your staff to excel in customer service, business management, and marketing finesse.

  • Participate in masterclasses and training sessions to continually improve.
  • Engage with communities and networks that share best practices and insights.

Niche Targeting for Market Expansion

Targeting niche markets like upholstery cleaning or focusing on high-value clients can yield substantial returns.

  • Identify unique selling propositions (USPs) and leverage these to differentiate your offerings.
  • Use market segmentation to distribute resources effectively and tailor services.

Sustainability and Innovation

Balance your business growth with sustainable practices and an eye for innovation. Stay open to emerging trends and technology solutions.

  • Regularly evaluate business operations to identify areas for improvement.
  • Integrate environmentally-friendly practices to enhance brand reputation.

Creating a Strong Online Presence through Content Strategy

Content is king, and a robust content strategy can significantly elevate your brand’s authority.

  • Consistent Updates: Regularly update your website with blog posts, press releases, and service area pages.
  • High-Quality Content: Craft informative content that adds value to prospective customers.

uh I was talking to a carpet cleaning business owner and um talking about what my favorite question Icebreaker question

John Clendenning [2:37]:
is whether I go to a chamber meeting whether I go to a mastermind to learn how to do what I do better um anything

John Clendenning [2:44]:
like that one of my favorite questions to other business owners is what are you

John Clendenning [2:49]:
listening to what are you reading and who are you studying right now and I learned so much from from asking that

John Clendenning [2:56]:
question I found out um kind of knew a little bit about it but I had um somebody I really really respect in

John Clendenning [3:02]:
business mentioned back in July um Dan Martell he’s a Canadian uh really good

John Clendenning [3:08]:
guy really good YouTube channel to follow really good mindset stuff for Business and Entrepreneurship and

John Clendenning [3:14]:
personal growth and all the things you have to do to to kind of succeed and and

John Clendenning [3:19]:
just stay focused right we think of ourselves as cleaners I was again 30 years in the industry one of them as

John Clendenning [3:25]:
well um you know they maybe I just need to go out and do some cleaning or you

John Clendenning [3:30]:
know hire some people and do the cleaning just run the business no no no no no you are the entrepreneur of your

John Clendenning [3:35]:
of of your dream of your company and it will not grow just by osmosis it’s not

John Clendenning [3:41]:
just G to happen you’ve got to put attention behind it you have to be marketing every single day you are the

John Clendenning [3:47]:
marketer of cleaning services first and foremost you are the delivery vessel for

John Clendenning [3:53]:
the cleaning services after that right so whether you’re hiring somebody doing yourself you’ve got to build all of that out you

John Clendenning [3:59]:
got to build all the but you’re the marketer marketing is everything you do marketing is the Vans the logos the shirts um the handouts the chachkies as

John Clendenning [4:06]:
they call them uh there marketing is door hangers and yard signs and meeting

John Clendenning [4:12]:
real estate agents and um staying in touch with your client database every single month and and and and so we’ll

John Clendenning [4:18]:
talk about all of that so if you’re serious let’s put some time and attention behind this this is going to be important okay so what we’re going to

John Clendenning [4:25]:
talk about today we’re going to optimize we’re going to talk about optimizing your Google Maps listing what is it where is it why does it matter how does

John Clendenning [4:31]:
it work what does it do what does it not do all of that kind of stuff because we want you to beat your competition right you’re going to boost your local online

John Clendenning [4:39]:
visibility um by building strong citations what the heck’s a citation you

John Clendenning [4:44]:
might know put in the chat love to hear if you know what citations are um harness the power of reviews to elevate

John Clendenning [4:51]:
your Map listing and I’m going to teach you something about reviews uh that nobody else talks about the actual

John Clendenning [4:57]:
secret and strategy and science behind not asking for reviews so we’re going to talk about

John Clendenning [5:03]:
that and we’re going to masterize master web optimization website optimization

John Clendenning [5:09]:
for your Google business profile GBP Google business profile that’s your Google Maps we’re going to talk about

John Clendenning [5:14]:
the connection between Google Maps and a bunch of different things but your website last month we did a a master

John Clendenning [5:19]:
class all on website optimization it’s just another one of the pieces this is part and parcel everything ties together

John Clendenning [5:26]:
everything’s integrated you really got to think of your marketing as integ ated right so nothing lives on an island of

John Clendenning [5:32]:
its own if what you do over here what you do on social media impacts how many people call you from a Google ad what

John Clendenning [5:38]:
you do or flyers or you know what you do on with your reputation and marketing

John Clendenning [5:44]:
that which is again another one of our master classes determines how many people will actually meet with you to

John Clendenning [5:50]:
become a referral partner it’s kind of strange or how many churches or property

John Clendenning [5:55]:
managers um will say yes to when you when you knock on the door and say say hey I’d like to you know have a meeting

John Clendenning [6:01]:
with you and talk about our services things like that so you’ve really really got to tie all the pieces together and

John Clendenning [6:07]:
understand how there is no one little thing going on it is it is all of it

John Clendenning [6:12]:
together and it all has to be you know involved you have to be involved in that you have to be thinking about that and

John Clendenning [6:19]:
doing something every single day implementation is everything and you have to implement so let’s get to doing some Implement implementing if you stay

John Clendenning [6:25]:
until the end we got a bunch of free stuff for you um we’ve got you know a whole kit worth of of resources

John Clendenning [6:31]:
checklist to find out if you got your digital marketing right a bunch of website stuff to make sure you got your website right um Grassroots marketing

John Clendenning [6:38]:
what you should be doing your role Your Role is not to build a website Your Role even in this Google Maps stuff set it up

John Clendenning [6:45]:
do it but hire people to take care of that for you you have a role to play in the company and it is covered right in

John Clendenning [6:50]:
here if you do this your company doubles and triples you know every year or two

John Clendenning [6:55]:
right if you’re if you’re under 10,000 a month under 20,000 a month under 30,000 a month in monthly recurring then

John Clendenning [7:04]:
Grassroots are what you do when I sold my business three years ago up until the week before so for 27 years I owned

John Clendenning [7:11]:
multiple businesses but my main carpet cleaning business spanned the whole 27 years uh and I was still doing this

John Clendenning [7:18]:
Grassroots Outreach and marketing and and meeting people and doing all the things that we talk about in there a

John Clendenning [7:24]:
week before I handed over the keys to the new owner already sold paper already signed signed week before right so

John Clendenning [7:32]:
because it was that important to hand over a successful business and keep it rolling and then teach them how to carry on from there um this is an old graphic

John Clendenning [7:39]:
but we do have the updated guide to Google my business that’s in that resource Gallery as well so again some things change you want to stay updated

John Clendenning [7:45]:
with that so right so who am I why the heck should you listen to me well been in business

John Clendenning [7:52]:
since 1990 still in high school started my first business as a shy teenage kid

John Clendenning [7:58]:
uh my buddy Scott was the one that did all the Talking I did all the strategizing and thinking owner of many

John Clendenning [8:04]:
cleaning businesses um independent franchises uh uh and then now marketing

John Clendenning [8:10]:
agencies started helping other cleaners in the mid 2000s then started helping people in their local Chamber of

John Clendenning [8:15]:
Commerce ended up with a digital agency I didn’t mean to have while still running all my cleaning companies and

John Clendenning [8:21]:
started spinning some of those off I was in the truck for the first two years 1995 to 1997 before the days of the

John Clendenning [8:27]:
internet didn’t have a yellow page ad came in March I started in May so a couple months too late and in a town of
Overcame shyness, built successful carpet cleaning business.

John Clendenning [8:34]:
30,000 people had a $100,000 year business $10,000 a month with in

John Clendenning [8:40]:
1995 before the end of the First full year town of 30,000 people I didn’t know anybody in that town I actually moved to

John Clendenning [8:46]:
that town because I was shy right so so this is doable this is doable in if you’re in a town of 100,000 200,000

John Clendenning [8:53]:
3,000 what do you do differently there was other carpet cleaners in town when I was there then I took over other

John Clendenning [8:58]:
businesses and other town pounds and stuff like that and came up with a strategy and learned I didn’t know what I didn’t know so I studied constantly to

John Clendenning [9:04]:
figure it all out so became a longtime marketing consultant and strategist because of the amount of studying I did to learn how to run my carpet cleaning

John Clendenning [9:11]:
business keynote speaker and author um and you know again sold sold my business

John Clendenning [9:17]:
my final brick and mortar business um high highend in a you service business

John Clendenning [9:22]:
in a in a in an area where competitors were like three rooms in a hall for $99

John Clendenning [9:27]:
commodity-based price based carpet cleaning and home cleaning service businesses and you should never run that

John Clendenning [9:33]:
I I can I will tell you why that never works I can tell you why businesses went bankrupt getting too many leads from

John Clendenning [9:39]:
from Groupon carpet cleaners that got two and 300 leads from a Groupon back in the day when it first showed up and actually went bankrupt before they even

John Clendenning [9:45]:
serviced all of them because it’s not about leads you should not be chasing leads it’s the worst strategy in the

John Clendenning [9:51]:
world and let me we’ll start unpacking a lot of that in here as well right more

John Clendenning [9:56]:
importantly what about people we work with some of the people have actually retired out of their business or went

John Clendenning [10:01]:
down to five and 10 hours a month managing their business and having teams and things like that if that’s your goal

John Clendenning [10:08]:
some of them want to be independent entrepreneurs and solo operators maybe get some help but they have a different

John Clendenning [10:14]:
sort of retirement plan to sell the business but they’re also funneling money into property and things like that you have to decide what you want to do

John Clendenning [10:20]:
I’ve helped consult hundreds and hundreds of businesses in the cleaning industry figure out where you want to go and how you’re going to penetrate your

John Clendenning [10:26]:
Marketplace but the most the the the most important thing that we’re going to see about all of this is that you’ve

John Clendenning [10:32]:
really got to pay attention to uh being the best known cleaner so um again IND

John Clendenning [10:39]:
industry leader of the year one of them in in the 2023 so last year for cleanfax magazine um do a a column with H or a

John Clendenning [10:49]:
video call with Jeff Cross on a regular basis that are is all over um uh Issa an

John Clendenning [10:55]:
association everybody should be joining and learning from in the cleaning industry uh and all that kind

John Clendenning [11:02]:
of stuff I’m I’m now all of that I used to be just the listener and one of the people sitting in the audiences of these people and I am the author of the

John Clendenning [11:08]:
complete guide interet marketing for carpet cleaners number one book on Amazon for the carpet cleaning industry yay me um but again not a huge industry

John Clendenning [11:15]:
to you know there’s not hundreds hundreds of thousands of people downloading the book but I do make you know a couple dollars two or three

John Clendenning [11:21]:
dollars for every book um that was in the attent I have it priced pretty low but um $2 or3 and uh every time somebody

John Clendenning [11:28]:
buys a book it goes right back into the next book and the next giveaway and all the free stuff that we do anyways and

John Clendenning [11:34]:
charity and stuff like that so right what do we do we help our clients become the the top cleaning brand in their

John Clendenning [11:39]:
local markets so they can attract the best clients are able to top charge the top rates for their services and are

John Clendenning [11:44]:
booked out weeks in advance you make more money you make more profit you have a happier life you can support your

John Clendenning [11:50]:
family better you can support your employees better you can support your community better because you’re running a real business that allows you to stand

John Clendenning [11:57]:
out and be a real entrepreneur that’s what we help people do we get your mindset right as well some of you

John Clendenning [12:03]:
already know how to do this and you just come and you need extra Services other people um have no clue they they they

John Clendenning [12:09]:
think that carpet cleaning is running ads on Thumbtack or Facebook so and and

John Clendenning [12:16]:
we’re going to talk about why that isn’t the case right so how do we do all of this the three principles of our

John Clendenning [12:22]:
omnipresence Marketing System principle number one you got to

John Clendenning [12:28]:
maximize your opportunity to gener generate a qualified lead you need to be

John Clendenning [12:33]:
in front of where the people that are looking for your services are looking that’s not always the

John Clendenning [12:39]:
internet big part of it is for defin definitely for residential but not always right if you’re if you’ve got the

John Clendenning [12:46]:
right door hanger telling your your founder story your risk reversal guarantee your compelling sales

John Clendenning [12:51]:
proposition and your impactful brand messaging and you’ve got that on your Vans and your signs and your that’s called your foundation part of our

John Clendenning [12:57]:
coaching and if you do if you’ve got that right and you’re in front of them because you’re at this neighbor’s house
Target affluent clients for higher-priced cleaning services.

John Clendenning [13:03]:
and you do the not the five round but the 20 round one of the strategies we teach it’s not about three rooms in a

John Clendenning [13:08]:
hall for 99 bucks that you’re in the wrong neighborhood you want the neighborhood that doesn’t want to hire

John Clendenning [13:13]:
the company that three rooms in a hall for 99 bucks they want to hire the company that might be three four five6 $800 to clean their 3,000 foot 4,000

John Clendenning [13:22]:
foot home once twice three four times a year that you want to you want to

John Clendenning [13:28]:
generate that opportunity if you want to get in front of property managers I was talking to a fellow just uh a couple

John Clendenning [13:34]:
weeks ago his first 90 days in business he understands commercial really really well he just wanted to figure out residential called us up and said don’t

John Clendenning [13:41]:
get the residential game I understand the commercial game did $150,000 in sales in the first 90 days of a brand

John Clendenning [13:46]:
new carpet cleaning business in a town of 500,000 people how the heck did he do that understanding the commercial game

John Clendenning [13:53]:
as well he two two trucks on the road needs to F needs to figure out the residential game to compliment that

John Clendenning [13:59]:
right so again some people don’t under understand commercial some people don’t understand residential where’s the mix

John Clendenning [14:04]:
how do you define your company how do you set your brand up you do that well and you’re maximizing your opportunities

John Clendenning [14:10]:
to generate a qualified lead there’s no such thing as a phone call oneand done happens on occasion maybe maybe a little

John Clendenning [14:18]:
bit on occasion but don’t count on it you need to have a lead nurture system you need to have a follow-up system paid

John Clendenning [14:25]:
ads don’t work without that um Flyers don’t work with like everything thing you need to do is has to have a way to

John Clendenning [14:30]:
get in touch with the same person three four five seven times we have an entire master class on that so we won’t go deep in that but think of that as well you

John Clendenning [14:37]:
need to maximize your brand Impressions does everybody know you does a the ideal

John Clendenning [14:42]:
customer in your Marketplace who is your ideal customer commercially who’s your ideal customer residentially I didn’t

John Clendenning [14:47]:
want to do greasy restaurants I didn’t want to do a Chinese restaurant at three o’clock in the morning right didn’t want my guys going out doing that at all and

John Clendenning [14:53]:
then not being able to show up the next morning for the residential jobs each of our trucks did, 1500 to ,000 a day in

John Clendenning [15:00]:
residential work one guy in a truck against competitors that did five six seven jobs at $100 each and maybe made

John Clendenning [15:06]:
500 $600 a day and we’re doing two jobs maybe three maybe probably not right and

John Clendenning [15:12]:
right so we maximized our brand impressions in front of our ideal client we knew who they were we maximized our brand impressions in front of our ideal

John Clendenning [15:19]:
commercial client who was that dentists doctors lawyers chiropractors accountants those were ideal commercial

John Clendenning [15:24]:
at end of day five o’clock a day we could roll into that the technicians got overtime they’re making 50 60 bucks an hour to go clean for a couple of hours

John Clendenning [15:31]:
well worth their time and we we were doing offices small offices you know

John Clendenning [15:37]:
cleaner environments why did we do those because everybody sitting in those offices were potential customers of ours

John Clendenning [15:43]:
as well so now we could cross Market while we’re cleaning the office we could plant a seed that maybe the employees

John Clendenning [15:49]:
wanted to use our services right maximizing our brand Impressions and then we want to maximize our your conversions if you do not get this piece

John Clendenning [15:56]:
right you could generate a ton of quality inquiries um we have some customers that can close 70% of the raw

John Clendenning [16:05]:
cold inquiries um over over time over the first two week Chase cycle as we

John Clendenning [16:10]:
call it as we teach um they can they can close 70% of them at twice the price of

John Clendenning [16:16]:
their competitors we’ve got other guys that can’t close 30% at a discount or a lower price and wondering if it’s price

John Clendenning [16:22]:
is the problem no it’s your ability to convert knowing having scripts having unique sales propositions getting your

John Clendenning [16:28]:
foundation right you do that right and your business starts to double right so

John Clendenning [16:35]:
the same amount of leads same amount of inquiries you know me I don’t like to call them leads I I slip a lot but same

John Clendenning [16:42]:
amount of inquiries coming into your company double the conversion rate you’ve got double the business pretty

John Clendenning [16:49]:
simple stuff and you didn’t have to pay anymore you just have to speak better and follow up better how hard is that

John Clendenning [16:55]:
right got a question for you does Google Maps still matter in 2024 so put that in the chat do you

John Clendenning [17:03]:
think Google Maps is still important and matters in 2024 yeah got a couple yeps I think so

John Clendenning [17:11]:
you guys know what Google Maps are right cool okay so let’s find out we’re talk

John Clendenning [17:17]:
here to talk about today so um this this graphic here is actually

John Clendenning [17:25]:
missing one key piece at the top local service ads are in most markets so you’ve got local service it’s on another

John Clendenning [17:31]:
slide coming up but payperclick local service ads takes about 10% of the clicks 90% of the people do not click on

John Clendenning [17:36]:
them just so you know does it make them useful yeah you’re maximizing your opportunity to generate a lead from Google that’s one of the platforms

John Clendenning [17:42]:
people are searching for cleaning services where do they go well 60% of the people that use online go to Google

John Clendenning [17:48]:
the other 40% do everything else but we talk about that a bit but the part the people that do go to Google they don’t

John Clendenning [17:54]:
have a name in mind they didn’t type your name in they’re typing in a a a search query what is the best carpet

John Clendenning [18:01]:
cleaning services in my town carpet cleaning services near me upholstery cleaning services me I need my couch

John Clendenning [18:06]:
clean who do I call they’ll type weird stuff and you’ve got to show up for those right so Google local service ads

John Clendenning [18:13]:
we’ll talk a little bit about those today um come across the top paperclick about 14% so all in maybe about 20% at

John Clendenning [18:19]:
the top Google Maps takes a full 30% of the clicks 50% of all clicks happen in

John Clendenning [18:24]:
the top but Google Maps takes 30% of the clicks if you’re not showing up and I’ll show you where you’re showing up where
Optimize local SEO to capture search traffic.

John Clendenning [18:31]:
you’re not and why but if you’re not showing up at least for the radius remember that word write it down we’re

John Clendenning [18:36]:
going to clear up what that means shortly if you’re not showing up for the radius an ideal radius around your known

John Clendenning [18:44]:
address whether it’s shown or not for your major about 70 terms 60

John Clendenning [18:52]:
terms in most marketplaces that generate a Google map it’s not just carpet cleaning there’s a whole bunch of different ways people type it in and as

John Clendenning [18:58]:
pull your cleaning tile cleaning area cleaning pet urine anything that shows a Google map if you’re not showing up in

John Clendenning [19:04]:
the one two or three position the three pack they call it um you’re missing out

John Clendenning [19:09]:
on 30 to 40% of all the clicks to your website and calls and then organically

John Clendenning [19:15]:
if you’re not showing your website’s not showing up in a broader radius because you can that can be rank even farther um

John Clendenning [19:22]:
you’re missing out on a full 50% so where should you be I get asked I well John which one I should I focused my

John Clendenning [19:27]:
attention on and I go yep because it’s all of them you want to maximize your opportunities so how do

John Clendenning [19:33]:
you do that effectively within a budget that is a budget conversation pretty easy conversation to have actually so um

John Clendenning [19:41]:
anyways so yes Google Maps matter even in 2024 30% of your cold inquiries that

John Clendenning [19:49]:
don’t know you by name are going to find you from Google Maps right why Maps listings are

John Clendenning [19:56]:
important here’s an example of carpet cleaning in Denver um for example this is a campaign being run or or sorry a

John Clendenning [20:03]:
list of all of the different places that a business is getting you know um getting their inquiries from and I’m

John Clendenning [20:11]:
trying to remember the duration of this but as an example in this column right here there was

John Clendenning [20:17]:
973 total inquiries to this business one of our clients this is just a backend

John Clendenning [20:22]:
dashboard report right um in that 335 of

John Clendenning [20:29]:
of the 900 a full third of them came from Google Maps another third of them

John Clendenning [20:34]:
came from their website on organic rankings below the Google Maps being somewhere in organic rankings for their

John Clendenning [20:40]:
blog post their website that’s why content is really important you should have new content on your website every single week you should have press

John Clendenning [20:46]:
releases and guest posts and all that kind of stuff why because your website needs to rank organically or you lose

John Clendenning [20:53]:
all of those inquiries those turn into jobs those not all 335

John Clendenning [20:58]:
people are going to go oh I found you in Google Maps let me call you up let me you know let me book with you no you

John Clendenning [21:03]:
still have to influence them there still has to be a reason why you still have to have reviews you still have to all that kind of stuff right but this this

John Clendenning [21:09]:
business for example got 335 inquiries out of their 973 inquiries just from Google Maps now we’ve got Google ads and

John Clendenning [21:17]:
we’ve got Google ad extension which is that putting your Google ads into um the

John Clendenning [21:22]:
local Maps we’ll talk about that but that’s an example as well Facebook ads

John Clendenning [21:27]:
there’s a reason for them more so than getting leads if you’re trying to get generate leads and inquiries from

John Clendenning [21:33]:
Facebook and thumbtack and all these things um you better have an amazing offer the downside of having an amazing

John Clendenning [21:38]:
offer is you track you attract discount and offer driven clients and then you’re going to tell me you know what everybody

John Clendenning [21:43]:
in carpet cleaning just cares about just cares about price John the ones you’re attracting do there are people there is

John Clendenning [21:50]:
business in town somewhere that is not price competitive they it’s not trying to compete on price they’re competing on

John Clendenning [21:56]:
quality and they’re they’re they’re getting they’re inquiries and their new customers in a totally different way and

John Clendenning [22:02]:
their average job is500 600 $700 and they only need one or two of those a day

John Clendenning [22:07]:
totally different businesses than yours that’s all you’re hearing everybody ask about price because you’re attracting

John Clendenning [22:12]:
price you’ve got price on your website you got price in your ads you’ve got all that guy I actually did a a podcast

John Clendenning [22:18]:
recently with um Brent from All Seasons Carpet Cleaning second generation carpet cleaner’s dad started the business in

John Clendenning [22:24]:
the 70s they have absolutely no interest in competing on price and they don’t talk about price anywhere on their websites or in any of their marketing

John Clendenning [22:30]:
it’s not about price do you want it done right do you want the right quality do you want to you know have you have you had the rest you want the best all of

John Clendenning [22:36]:
that kind of stuff so um and then yeah just again all kinds of different locations where people are coming from

John Clendenning [22:42]:
but the most important point is this client Google Maps is number one number

John Clendenning [22:47]:
one source and usually that bounces back and forth between number one and number two and organic so you need to be in the

John Clendenning [22:53]:
maps and you need to be below the maps for all of those keyword terms right and there’s actually I’ll tell you a little

John Clendenning [22:58]:
bit bit of more about this client as well because area expansion targeting is actually a really

John Clendenning [23:04]:
unique strategy once you’ve maximized your your local your map area and I’ll talk about what that means um there’s

John Clendenning [23:11]:
strategies where you can extend your Market reach right so yes Google maps drives calls you cannot rely on Word of

John Clendenning [23:18]:
Mouth or paid lead sources alone you how many times I hear this how do you get most of your job I just Word of Mouth

John Clendenning [23:25]:
John Word of Mouth so okay so you’re so amazing that so many people talk about

John Clendenning [23:32]:
you even though they don’t talk about anything else to anybody you are so amazing that you’ve got two or three trucks on the road with just Word of

John Clendenning [23:37]:
Mouth you do no marketing you don’t go to the chamber you don’t have you have you don’t have signage on your Vans you

John Clendenning [23:43]:
don’t have uniforms you you just are this one rare lucky person that word of

John Clendenning [23:48]:
mouth is the way you’ve grown a multi- two3 truck operation in a town of three four 500,000 people which you should be

John Clendenning [23:55]:
on a multitruck operation by then right so that you can actually go away for a week or two with your family and the

John Clendenning [24:01]:
business still makes money so no I don’t think prove me wrong

John Clendenning [24:06]:
message me privately tell me show me I have been in this industry for 30 years now as of next year I have consulted for

John Clendenning [24:15]:
the last 20 I have never found that to be true paid lead sources they are just

John Clendenning [24:20]:
one pole in the water we talk a lot about polls in the water you need 20 30 40 poles in the water every one of them

John Clendenning [24:26]:
generating one two three four five 10 inquiries a month some of them but you need polls in the water from everywhere

John Clendenning [24:32]:
you do not want one pole in the water paid ads and your paid ad lead

John Clendenning [24:40]:
Source you should be happy if you generate a 3 to1 Roi you spent $1,000 it

John Clendenning [24:47]:
brought in $3,000 $3,000 from that one paid ad source is not enough to build an

John Clendenning [24:53]:
entire business you just the numbers don’t make sense obviously that can’t be your whole business you repeat referral

John Clendenning [24:58]:
database that you Market to every single month that’s a big one your referral Partners in the marketplace that’s a big

John Clendenning [25:04]:
one your social media outreach and how you actually join groups and do all of that kind of stuff we teach all of this

John Clendenning [25:09]:
stuff in our coaching but that that’s what you need to be looking at your paid lead sources just wet the wheel they
Invest wisely: Customer lifetime value is crucial.

John Clendenning [25:16]:
just bring more people in you’re just adding more people that you can you know you could break even right two to one

John Clendenning [25:22]:
Roi and carpet cleaning Break Even if you found an ideal customer that comes back every 3 6 9 12 months because you

John Clendenning [25:28]:
Market them really really well for a few pennies and a few phone calls and they come back again and again and again you

John Clendenning [25:33]:
know your the lifetime value of your carpet cleaning customer if you choose them right should be about 10 times their average your average customer

John Clendenning [25:40]:
value so if your average transactional job is $500 you should have about a $5,000 sometimes as high as 10,000 if

John Clendenning [25:46]:
you’re really good but at least a $5,000 lifetime value of that customer so how much are you willing to spend to get $5,000 worth of Revenue into your

John Clendenning [25:53]:
business 20 bucks 10 bucks you’re not going to find a quality lead for that at all a quality inquiry right you’re going

John Clendenning [26:00]:
to have to pay 50 $80 $100 to buy a quality customer so your prices better be23 $400 and how do you do that you

John Clendenning [26:08]:
Market a better service right so anyways you don’t want to be relying on lead sources alone or Word of Mouth period

John Clendenning [26:13]:
right so the biggest changes in Google Maps the listings are very geob based

John Clendenning [26:19]:
right so um it can vary based on every device that you’re on every you know the

John Clendenning [26:25]:
location where you’re standing and the the in um um the internet type that they’re on

John Clendenning [26:32]:
whether it’s um whether you’re on a um uh desktop device a mobile device

John Clendenning [26:38]:
everything changes so when a when one of our client says John I Googled my name and I can’t see myself

John Clendenning [26:43]:
anymore okay let’s go actually look at the data and I’ll show you how the real data

John Clendenning [26:49]:
shows it doesn’t matter if you can see yourself do like and what what keyword there’s about 3,000 keywords that pull

John Clendenning [26:54]:
up a website there’s about 70 80 keywords in carpet cleaning alone as I said that pull up your Map listing did

John Clendenning [27:01]:
you try them all or you got one in mind well carpet

John Clendenning [27:06]:
cleaning yeah that’s one not everybody types that in and let me prove that to you right so um Google Maps um is

John Clendenning [27:13]:
serving paid ads in the map results so it’s a little bit of work or ganship you

John Clendenning [27:19]:
can do there to help your your show in areas where you will never show and we’ll talk about what those areas are

John Clendenning [27:25]:
and why you know what this geocentric is all about um Google local service ads have a very deep connection with Google

John Clendenning [27:31]:
Maps and your and your Google Google business profile so um right so that’s

John Clendenning [27:36]:
right here the Google LSA and map connection right um and critical to complete um Advanced verification

John Clendenning [27:43]:
process you want to make sure you’re fully verified on Google um or you’re suppressed right so these are some

John Clendenning [27:50]:
recent changes over the last couple of years um that really really impact your Google Maps listing search results

John Clendenning [27:56]:
results from different locations this one most people don’t understand right so if you’re in your office you’re in

John Clendenning [28:01]:
your house if you run out of the house if you run out of an office whatever um you’re on your cell phone you’re on your

John Clendenning [28:06]:
Wi-Fi your IP address is already known by Google and you’re actually at the

John Clendenning [28:13]:
spot where your business pin is dropped if you search for your business name um

John Clendenning [28:18]:
you’ve searched for it a million times before on that device that’s influencing your results but if you go off of Wi-Fi

John Clendenning [28:25]:
or set up a a VP a VPN right so you’re pretending that your IP address is

John Clendenning [28:30]:
somewhere entirely else or you go halfway across town and now you search or get a buddy you stand beside a buddy

John Clendenning [28:38]:
you know you search at your house and you get a friend that just flew in from out of town he’s sitting on his Android phone you’re on your iPhone he’s not on

John Clendenning [28:44]:
your Wi-Fi you didn’t let him into your your guest Wi-Fi or anything he’s just on his data plan and you say hey search this and you look at the results Chinese

John Clendenning [28:51]:
restaurants near me carpet cleaning near me like any of those things his results will be different than yours you go

John Clendenning [28:57]:
across town you move a mile away two miles away three miles away 10 miles away 15 miles

John Clendenning [29:05]:
away the results are entirely different in fact Google is really really really

John Clendenning [29:10]:
big on proximity so what I mean by that is um and we’ll kind of get into that a

John Clendenning [29:16]:
little bit but there is a there’s actually a radius a maximum radius you’ll show up but it’s not automatic

John Clendenning [29:23]:
most people only show up for a mile or two around where Google sent the postcard and knows where know where you are even if you don’t show your address

John Clendenning [29:30]:
Google still knows where you are you cannot say oh yeah my radius is the entire Three Counties Google’s not going

John Clendenning [29:36]:
to show you in the entire Three Counties it’s about 15 miles is the max in a
High competition limits Google map listing radius.

John Clendenning [29:42]:
heavily populated heavily dense population it might only be 10

John Clendenning [29:48]:
miles downtown Manhattan it might only be five miles before you will not show

John Clendenning [29:54]:
up any further and you have to work your butt off to even get the five mile radius and not just one mile around for your Google Map listing to show up why

John Clendenning [30:01]:
because there’s so many competitors and so many people so much like all things being equal why is Google showing you

John Clendenning [30:06]:
over 80 90 other competitors what are you so special like let’s not be vain here let’s not be e you know arrogant or

John Clendenning [30:13]:
egotistical why are you so so much more special are you doing all of the things that I’m going to show you next um that

John Clendenning [30:18]:
you need to be doing to even show up five 10 miles around for all of your services and the

John Clendenning [30:26]:
hundreds of terms that actually pull up a local app listing and you’ve got each one of them identified and you’re doing so much or you’re just winging it and

John Clendenning [30:32]:
guessing right if you’re winging it and guessing it you’re not showing up anyways right so that’s an example of

John Clendenning [30:37]:
that um Google math plus local service ads if you see here Google’s showing the

John Clendenning [30:42]:
reviews Google guarantee Google local service called Google guarantee because Google is guaranteeing it so a lot of

John Clendenning [30:48]:
people call it by the badge right there but it’s actually called Google local service ads they’re pay per call you only pay when they call we’ve got a

John Clendenning [30:54]:
master class on that we did not that many many months ago you can go find it in our um on our podcast uh page and in

John Clendenning [31:00]:
our YouTube and you can learn all about the best way to deal with this but you have to have a reviews on your Google

John Clendenning [31:09]:
your Google Maps listing or you’re not allowed in to Google local service ad and then you got to get reviews

John Clendenning [31:14]:
individually and independently into your Google local service ads as well but you want to make sure you have reviews you

John Clendenning [31:20]:
want to make sure you connect the to why Google local service ads only show for a radius as well and then they drop off

John Clendenning [31:27]:
because other people are trying to compete and and it’s now very competitive in almost every Marketplace

John Clendenning [31:34]:
so do you want to be there absolutely it’s the top of Google before you even get in paid ads before then you get into

John Clendenning [31:39]:
um the Map listing as we showed and then you get into organic so you yeah you should be there if you’ve got a really

John Clendenning [31:45]:
great strategy of great script on the phone you can book 50% of the calls that

John Clendenning [31:50]:
come in because you’re really good or some whoever’s answering your phones are really good you have to answer your phone we talked about that on on that

John Clendenning [31:56]:
call um so not going to do a deep dive into local service ads obviously but the point being that Google Maps and and um

John Clendenning [32:02]:
local service ads play in the same playground and if you answer your phones within three rings you answer the

John Clendenning [32:09]:
messages within a minute or two during business hours and outside of business hours you have your local service Maps

John Clendenning [32:15]:
turned off and you tie into your um Google Map and you have those two connected together and you get more

John Clendenning [32:20]:
reviews in Google maps and you get more reviews in right directly in here you

John Clendenning [32:25]:
will get a ton of calls from about a 15 10 to 15 mile radius around your known

John Clendenning [32:31]:
address Beyond there it’s hit or miss so there’s a strategy around that right so

John Clendenning [32:37]:
how it impacts search results again we talked about this earlier a little bit but there’s a better one with the local

John Clendenning [32:42]:
service ads right so 50 plus carpet cleaners nearby Google’s telling us that right there why are you so special that

John Clendenning [32:49]:
you’re going to show up in the maps you have to do a lot of work why are you so special that you’re going to show up an organic you have to do a lot of work

John Clendenning [32:55]:
it’s important because there’s 80% of your potential Google inquiries right

John Clendenning [33:02]:
there but the other 20% are here you want all of them and they tie together

John Clendenning [33:07]:
and they play in the same ballar so if you want to sign up for local Services um go to adwords.google.com local

John Clendenning [33:14]:
Services signup if you haven’t already get the ball rolling it can take a number of weeks you got to do a background check you have to have

John Clendenning [33:20]:
insurance Google’s actually guaranteeing your work up to $2,000 the customer can complain and get money back from Google

John Clendenning [33:27]:
so anyway but it’s part of a Google Maps strategy to be honest right so um again some of the

John Clendenning [33:34]:
biggest changes that we’re talking about is you got local service Adge pay-per-click Maps thirdparty listings

John Clendenning [33:42]:
like Yelp and Angie’s List and organic so you want to be on all of the third- party

John Clendenning [33:49]:
um um directories as well they’re actually considered citations we’ll talk about that but you want to be on all of

John Clendenning [33:55]:
them there’s hundreds you want to be like between directories and citation sources we’ll talk about that but you

John Clendenning [34:00]:
want to be dominating all that is part of it they all play together it’s all part of a meshed structure just to

John Clendenning [34:07]:
dominate Google maximize your opportunities to generate a qualified lead when somebody types in a search

John Clendenning [34:13]:
term that you show up for and maximize those Search terms right so there’s ways
Optimize Google Maps listing; avoid fake entries.

John Clendenning [34:18]:
to do that you want and there’s ways to actually optimize your Google Maps listing to make sure that even if they type in upholster cleaning tile cleaning

John Clendenning [34:25]:
things like that you’ve got a chance of showing up for those as well at least in that 5 10 15 mile radius around your

John Clendenning [34:30]:
known address right um Google spent a lot of time reducing um fake Google Maps

John Clendenning [34:37]:
listings there’s still people try all the time but since um 2015 they’ve put a

John Clendenning [34:42]:
concerted effort behind this and they have you know they’re constantly dropping them so if you’ve got you know

John Clendenning [34:48]:
somebody creating a fake listing stuffing the listing so inside the the

John Clendenning [34:54]:
name of their business they put keywords that have nothing to do with the name of their company um Google is going to

John Clendenning [35:01]:
eventually call you out on that or somebody who sees your van pull in and say sees that it’s ABC services and

John Clendenning [35:07]:
you’ve got ABC Carpet Cleaning Services in you know wital Kansas as your Google

John Clendenning [35:13]:
Maps listing all you need is a Google local guide level four five six whatever

John Clendenning [35:18]:
go I don’t think that’s right right you just need somebody or Google to kind of

John Clendenning [35:23]:
come around and figure that out um eventually they do they they they do these sweeps you either prove it or you got to get

John Clendenning [35:30]:
out of it right so you should like there is a game to play around that we’ll talk about that in a second there is actually

John Clendenning [35:36]:
a way to that we help our clients we suggest with our clients um ways to make sure that you know if one of there’s

John Clendenning [35:43]:
ranking factors as they call it things that help your Google Maps listing Rank and we’re going to go through a bunch of

John Clendenning [35:48]:
those um ranking factors throughout this call but some things you can do is

John Clendenning [35:53]:
actually get a DBA doing business as that makes your business name different than your corporate name or whatever so

John Clendenning [35:59]:
you don’t want to say you know I am ABC Carpet Cleaning LLC you don’t need to show all of that you can have a DBA that

John Clendenning [36:06]:
is you know operating as you know whatever so if you say if your ABC service is LLC maybe you want to have a

John Clendenning [36:13]:
DBA doing business as ABC Carpet Cleaning or ABC Carpet and upholster cleaning now you can prove to Google

John Clendenning [36:19]:
piece of paper that’s really me right so they your listing is

John Clendenning [36:26]:
legit so what could be hurting your rankings on Google Maps you need an

John Clendenning [36:31]:
office or a location in the city you’re targeting to rank well in maps again

John Clendenning [36:37]:
think of 10 go go to your listing and draw a 10 to 10 or 15 mile circle around

John Clendenning [36:43]:
where your office is if you’re in a really heavily densely populated area go 10 10 miles that is as far as you’re

John Clendenning [36:50]:
going to show up in Google Maps if you’re in a little bit less dense um area go 15 look inside that Circle are

John Clendenning [36:58]:
your ideal customers inside that Circle do you have pockets inside that Circle that your ideal demographic are you

John Clendenning [37:04]:
targeting you know upper upper class upper middle class you know discretionary household income over

John Clendenning [37:10]:
$100,000 to $200,000 above you know people that you know are in Golf Course road that hire landscapers and maid

John Clendenning [37:17]:
services and carpet cleaners and all that kind of stuff um or you targeting rental apartment buildings

John Clendenning [37:24]:
right and tenant and and people on fix incomes in seniors right again one one

John Clendenning [37:31]:
one part of it is an easy business to run and way more profitable and easier to hire employees and do easier to do

John Clendenning [37:38]:
the jobs you’re cleaning clean carpets cleaning clean upholstery for the most part the other side of it is a really

John Clendenning [37:45]:
hard business to run and you’re constantly beating up your equipment and not making a lot of profit the van’s

John Clendenning [37:50]:
breaking down you don’t have enough money to fix the water pump and stuff like that right so one of the strategies

John Clendenning [37:55]:
is you need an office the areas where your ideal customer is so an area expansion plan is actually

John Clendenning [38:01]:
about getting a second office and there’s ways to do that really affordably and then start a new Google

John Clendenning [38:07]:
Maps listing we help our clients do this and then again proximity start a new local service at a local service ad has
Expand Google Maps zones to boost sales gradually.

John Clendenning [38:14]:
to be tied to a Google Maps so if you got to be tied to it create a whole new zone right so now you’re 30 miles apart

John Clendenning [38:20]:
15 Mile circles touching each other how many of those do you need c could each

John Clendenning [38:25]:
one of those generate their own five 105,000 a month in sales over time

John Clendenning [38:33]:
not instantly there’s no such thing as light switch marketing but can you do it where you you build up a listing you do

John Clendenning [38:39]:
the right things um which we’ll talk about the the ways to keep your listing fresh and active every single day if

John Clendenning [38:45]:
you’re doing something every single day every you know every second or third day to your Google Maps listing um you’re going to be beating your competition you

John Clendenning [38:51]:
got to do the right things but you’re going to try and do what you can to have it rank wider and wider and wider

John Clendenning [38:56]:
proximity wise and then eventually you’ll hit that that cap and then you need more and more Search terms right so

John Clendenning [39:03]:
did you try and spam Google with fake locations so you can’t have fake locations because the if you’ve got

John Clendenning [39:08]:
multiple locations or you got the same location you’ve got multiple listings SP you know um you’re going to actually um

John Clendenning [39:15]:
suppress your listing we had a uh a client um come on board recently and

John Clendenning [39:20]:
they had they hired another company and the other company started up a brand new Google Maps listing at the exact same

John Clendenning [39:26]:
address both both of them were hidden from Google they were suppressed why because you can’t do that it’s not

John Clendenning [39:31]:
allowed so they either going to suspend it or they’re just going to suppress it and you got zero traffic you have to

John Clendenning [39:37]:
have a consistent name address phone number profile all around the web it’s

John Clendenning [39:43]:
called your nap name address profile and a lot of times people call it nap plus W plus website it’s got to be consistent

John Clendenning [39:49]:
everywhere people look why because Google needs to know you’re legit and there’s so much fake going on that they

John Clendenning [39:55]:
use consistency around the web on all of the other directories right did you try and spam your city in your company name

John Clendenning [40:03]:
or your categories right so again did you put you know Atlanta ABC Carpet

John Clendenning [40:09]:
Cleaning Services when your name your company is ABC Services right no you want to have a d DBA if you want but you

John Clendenning [40:17]:
know and you can prove that when Google asks but if you’re trying to spam your listing you’re eventually going to get caught right and you have enough reviews

John Clendenning [40:25]:
across the web not just on Google and it more importantly are you getting enough revieww velocity Google doesn’t really

John Clendenning [40:31]:
care about your review count in a ranking Factor you review velocity what

John Clendenning [40:36]:
the people are saying in those reviews and are you answering every single review they care about that but they

John Clendenning [40:43]:
don’t care if you have 500 or 100 they care that the fact that your competitors are getting two or three a week and you’re getting two or three a month

John Clendenning [40:51]:
that’s a ranking Factor right our proven formula for

John Clendenning [40:56]:
getting ranked in the three pack claim and optimize your Google listing everywhere you can list all your

John Clendenning [41:01]:
services list list all your products um choose the right categories that’s a big

John Clendenning [41:06]:
one we find people choosing the wrong categories you don’t want to spam the categories you don’t want too many but you want to make sure you have the right

John Clendenning [41:12]:
categories and the right primary category because Google looks at all of that to determine if they’re going to rank for you if you’ve got a business

John Clendenning [41:19]:
that is a carpet cleaning company and a maid service company my biggest recommendation is have two separate

John Clendenning [41:24]:
businesses two separate business licenses and run them separately when we actually carved out our duck cleaning

John Clendenning [41:30]:
away from our carpet cleaning and set it up as a whole separate brand separate business all that kind of stuff we went

John Clendenning [41:35]:
from having it as an add-on to our carpet cleaning kind of like upholstry is an add-on to carpet cleaning carpet cleaning gets most your calls upholster

John Clendenning [41:41]:
gets what 10 20% that kind all of a sudden it became its own business with its own Crews pretty quickly because we

John Clendenning [41:47]:
put its own our own budget behind it mentally I put a focus on it as a separate company but also online it had

John Clendenning [41:53]:
its own separate brand identity and it took time it’s not instant but it grew to its own Crews its own company you can

John Clendenning [42:01]:
actually spin these off and sell them separately as their own their own business entity right so um you want to

John Clendenning [42:07]:
you want to make sure that your business citations um and consistency with nap

John Clendenning [42:13]:
name address phone number so citation is just a really fancy word for your name address and phone number on the web so

John Clendenning [42:18]:
think of every directory think of um the data aggregators info USA factual um

John Clendenning [42:28]:
for square became has become a data aggregator that other companies use the data on there to build um to to put onto

John Clendenning [42:35]:
pages and listings and guides and all that kind of stuff so you want to make sure that your your accuracy is like is

John Clendenning [42:42]:
exactly the same everywhere you look um lots of real reviews you don’t want fake reviews you can anybody can do a review

John Clendenning [42:48]:
audit Google does them as well and find that you know most your reviews only have every given one review and never

John Clendenning [42:56]:
again maybe they don’t even live in your area you bought the reviews or you’ve just

John Clendenning [43:02]:
asked all your friends and family and they’ve never reviewed anybody else and all you got is a whole bunch of reviews once and never again right if you’ve got

John Clendenning [43:08]:
those types of reviews you’re going to notice them starting to dis disappear sometimes you’re going to notice reviews

John Clendenning [43:13]:
disappear because Google thinks some of your reviews are like that the person only ever reviewed you and three four

John Clendenning [43:19]:
five years later you are still the only review it might drop off they’re not a real reviewer you kind of talk them into

John Clendenning [43:24]:
it and Google doesn’t want that in the the algorithm and you want to make sure you have your onpage optimization that

John Clendenning [43:30]:
is a really weird way of spelling optim anys anyways so um you want to make sure

John Clendenning [43:37]:
that you have that on your website and we’ll talk about that so claim and optimize your Google Business listing number one make sure you have a login to

John Clendenning [43:45]:
your Google business account it’s on Google it’s you you log in you go to Chrome or wherever where your browser is

John Clendenning [43:52]:
you log into Google and if you type your business name in you should see right there that you have access to your

John Clendenning [43:58]:
business listing if you’ve claimed it properly right so you want to update your company name to be the real company

John Clendenning [44:04]:
name don’t add keywords again if you really want to optimize your listing because the having carpet cleaning

John Clendenning [44:11]:
upholstery cleaning in your you know carpet and upholster cleaning things like that um cleaning service in your name is a bit of a ranking Factor it

John Clendenning [44:18]:
helps a bit move you up then you go get a DBA from your state or city or wherever you do that and and actually

John Clendenning [44:25]:
change have that name allowed put it there put it on your Vans and everything else like that right so make sure you

John Clendenning [44:30]:
have it available to prove to Google that you have actually that is really you do business as that name otherwise

John Clendenning [44:36]:
it has to be exactly what your license is um add your website address um this

John Clendenning [44:43]:
would create a great inbound link from Google to your website use your use local numbers not 800 numbers um so you

John Clendenning [44:51]:
you don’t want to have the phone number to be an 800 number if you’ve got two three locations you’re not trying to get

John Clendenning [44:57]:
the you just have two or three local numbers you can have a call tracking number as the first number as long as

John Clendenning [45:03]:
you move your primary number to the secondary number Google knows both of those so you can actually track calls to

John Clendenning [45:09]:
the one people see you know hey that came from my Google Business listing this one versus that one as long as the

John Clendenning [45:14]:
secondary number in your listing um is your real number right use a local address no PO boxes UPS Stores things

John Clendenning [45:21]:
like that there is a way to get second and third offices that are legit that work um Again part of that area

John Clendenning [45:27]:
expansion plan but you you’re not using UPS stores and PO Boxes Google will not accept those they will shut those down

John Clendenning [45:33]:
upload photos um as many as possible this is this goes back to maximizing

John Clendenning [45:38]:
your conversions as well people love to see themselves in the work that you do
Uploading photos regularly boosts Google Maps ranking.

John Clendenning [45:44]:
so if you upload lots of photos on a regular basis there’s a couple things that that’s actually covering you’re

John Clendenning [45:50]:
using personal photos pictures of yourself the owner your staff um your office the trucks the equipment smiling

John Clendenning [45:57]:
like you know at a charity golf tournament um before and after pictures but with your team in it on the job you

John Clendenning [46:03]:
know all that you know that resonates with other people that shows up but also

John Clendenning [46:09]:
it actually improves your Maps um rankings because Google sees that you’re uploading and you’re active in their

John Clendenning [46:14]:
platform Google loves activity so you’re active in the platform that becomes another brownie Point towards moving you

John Clendenning [46:20]:
up in that 10 to 15 mile radius in you around your pin drop around your

John Clendenning [46:25]:
location because you’re being more active than the people around you so one one story I always like to say is you

John Clendenning [46:31]:
know this is like the story of you and your buddy walking in the woods and you guys see a bear and he starts running and goes come on John let’s run there’s

John Clendenning [46:38]:
a bear and I’m and no I’m bending over I’m tying my shoes come on John why are you tying your shoes that’s run you

John Clendenning [46:44]:
gotta outrun the bear I go nope nope I’m tying my shoes because quite sadly all I have to do is outrun you right that’s

John Clendenning [46:51]:
what the Google Maps is like it’s just you need to outrun the competitors you need to get a little bit faster till

John Clendenning [46:56]:
you’re behind them and you’re ahead of them and you stay ahead this they aren’t static this is just for you know if you

John Clendenning [47:03]:
can see my little circle here they’re they are not static um they’re moving up they’re doing things your best

John Clendenning [47:09]:
competitors are posting they are they are doing images they are optimizing their listing they’re answering every

John Clendenning [47:15]:
single review so they’re moving up you just need to move up be moving up a little bit faster and then when you get ahead you need to keep going because

John Clendenning [47:21]:
they’re going to try and catch up right so photos are one of those things um

John Clendenning [47:26]:
listen your exact hours of operation and all your services you offer on your listing on your website tie the two

John Clendenning [47:33]:
together and we’ll talk a little bit about that um claim and optimize your again this is what it looks like that when you log in on your if you go to

John Clendenning [47:41]:
Google log your Google account and then you type your business name in you should see this and nobody else will

John Clendenning [47:47]:
your business name over here um and your um Google business profile here you

John Clendenning [47:54]:
click three dots you can add managers you can go through each one of these steps and fill everything

John Clendenning [48:00]:
out right um again when you add photos you just go back previous you’re going

John Clendenning [48:06]:
to add photos right there pretty easy drag and drop photos you want to

John Clendenning [48:12]:
add them the cool thing is when you take photos on your phone the reason why your your phone knows that you’re in Mexico

John Clendenning [48:17]:
that you were you know three Towns over um blah blah blah and oh look at look at

John Clendenning [48:22]:
all these things you know you know as you maybe you’re on holidays maybe you’re this the reason why your phone’s knows that is it knows the latitude and
Photos’ geo-data enhances business visibility online.

John Clendenning [48:28]:
longitude of where the picture was taken and that data is not embedded on your phone it’s embedded in the picture so

John Clendenning [48:34]:
when you upload pictures Google’s got that as well if you’ve got technicians that are sharing pictures of on the job

John Clendenning [48:40]:
one town over two towns over there’s your fans parked in front of a point of Interest like a monument or something

John Clendenning [48:45]:
like that Google can recognize that and they also know by latitude and longitude right so you want you’re going to get

John Clendenning [48:52]:
more Impressions to your business listing if you show more photos as well you’re just

John Clendenning [48:58]:
going to get more Impressions more engagement more people see you for more keywords right um you want to make sure

John Clendenning [49:06]:
you’re answering every review so Google actually reads the reviews like the the AI it reads it knows the keywords that

John Clendenning [49:13]:
are being used so if your customers can mention not only employee name but they

John Clendenning [49:19]:
can also mention you know carpet cleaning and the city and all that if they can mention those they share some

John Clendenning [49:24]:
photos things like that Google is going to pick up on all of that and that’s going to actually be a boost to your

John Clendenning [49:30]:
Maps listing as well and then you respond thanking them that they’re happy uh you know really appreciate it thanks

John Clendenning [49:37]:
so much going to tell the team about it look forward to seeing you next time Mrs Smith blah blah blah we really enjoyed cleaning your carpets and your

John Clendenning [49:42]:
Upholstery and blah blah you can mention keywords in your response as well right so um again here’s an example of carpet

John Clendenning [49:50]:
cleaning services and additional categories cleaning product supplier you might not be that but this is all the

John Clendenning [49:56]:
different additional categories you can choose from um you’ve got um so carpet

John Clendenning [50:01]:
cleaning services maybe you’re doing house cleaning maybe you do air duct cleaning as I said maybe unless you

John Clendenning [50:07]:
carve that out separately leather cleaning upholstery cleaning um lots of other categories you want to go down the list of all the different Services you

John Clendenning [50:13]:
do and make sure that you’ve got your listing optimized but don’t stuff it with fake

John Clendenning [50:19]:
ones up there update your photos and add them often leverage Google post that’s another one um you want to be doing a

John Clendenning [50:25]:
Google post at least once a week we actually do about five to seven a week for our clients um and those posts have

John Clendenning [50:31]:
to be targeting the services and and the service areas what you really want to

John Clendenning [50:36]:
think about is what you do and where you do it you need to tell Google what you do so they know and where you do it so

John Clendenning [50:43]:
if you’ve got posts showing a customer’s job um or you know

John Clendenning [50:51]:
you name it like it’s a truck beside a monument whatever all that kind of stuff and then you’ve got text in that post

John Clendenning [50:57]:
talking about what you do and where you do it and maybe even a link back to your website now you’re creating a connection

John Clendenning [51:04]:
right to a service area page or something like that you can leverage Google posts to tell Google what you do

John Clendenning [51:10]:
and where you do it and the public will see that as well respond to all reviews and answer questions that get posted in

John Clendenning [51:15]:
fact it’s even a strategy to get questions posted for you and then answer them right but if anybody asks a

John Clendenning [51:21]:
question in your Google listing there’s a spot to go answer them um the more like questions come up a lot people

John Clendenning [51:27]:
people also ask these other points Google Shares that anytime you do a search for something oh by the way

John Clendenning [51:33]:
here’s other ways of saying that people also ask this and you can click down those well where do those come from

John Clendenning [51:39]:
questions so you want to build lots of quality citations across the web thing

John Clendenning [51:45]:
citations are name address phone number on other websites right structured that is very structured where it’s actually

John Clendenning [51:51]:
got what’s called schema code it knows this is the name of the business this is the address of the business this is the phone number of the business

John Clendenning [51:57]:
unstructured is just a listing with that information in it you want local and

John Clendenning [52:02]:
Niche relevance so carpet cleaning cleaning relevant so you want to be on all the cleaning sites and directories

John Clendenning [52:08]:
you want to be on the local sites and directories you want to be able to do an audit of your of your competitors top 10

John Clendenning [52:14]:
competitors versus you what citations and and links do they have their name

John Clendenning [52:19]:
address and phone number on that you don’t right are some of them paid pay for it if it’s 20 302 bucks a year to

John Clendenning [52:27]:
join the chamber whatever and that’s a quality local link right Better Business bureaus get the free listing get a paid

John Clendenning [52:33]:
listing you know there’s things like that you want to look around to see what other people have that are ranking higher than you showing up more than you

John Clendenning [52:40]:
and you want to make sure that you have those as well um again consistent nap um you want to limitate limit duplicate or

John Clendenning [52:46]:
incorrect business information you don’t want you don’t want double listings anywhere you don’t want your your your

John Clendenning [52:52]:
name to be different on this one directory versus that your address to be different on this one directory you want to manage that if you’ve got old

John Clendenning [52:59]:
listings you want to go fix them you want to have a log to it or a service we provide a service to go in and do that

John Clendenning [53:05]:
um so you want to be able to actually change them and keep them updated because it will help you rank better in Google Maps right pay attention to the

John Clendenning [53:12]:
data aggregators factual axium infog group Newar those are some some of the big ones but you they distribute to

John Clendenning [53:19]:
hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of other directories you know directories on on media websites directories on you

John Clendenning [53:25]:
know uh you name it like lots and lots of places that ask for business names

John Clendenning [53:30]:
locally Niche names if you’re not there you don’t show up if you got the wrong

John Clendenning [53:35]:
information it damages your listing right tools to um best citation tools

John Clendenning [53:41]:
there’s ways that you can get citations bright local MZ Whit Spark yex all of these are paid tools they usually cost

John Clendenning [53:48]:
you know $500,000 a year um well worth it there’s services like we provide that

John Clendenning [53:55]:
include all of that for you um you know where we we we manage those and so many more um and we use different tools than

John Clendenning [54:02]:
these more agency Enterprise level tools but same idea you can you can reach out and find these as well and you can start

John Clendenning [54:09]:
getting some of your citations that’s not all of them this is just going to be sort of like the core 50 to 100 right

John Clendenning [54:15]:
you can run a free citation um consistency and accuracy check um we’ve got a tool I’m going to show you in a

John Clendenning [54:20]:
second what that looks like um but you’re going to go to carpet cleaner marketing masters.com scan this is free

John Clendenning [54:27]:
it’s a whole local Vis visibility audit right so you can go to a free local visibility audit we have a whole AI

John Clendenning [54:34]:
system in the background running all kinds of stuff we keep adding new things to it all the time as well but it’s it’s it’s something that we’ve made available

John Clendenning [54:40]:
to the industry it’s going to look like this now actually let me switch over I opened up the website so this is the

John Clendenning [54:45]:
live website right so you’re going to go to that link and it’s going to take you to ignite your reputation.com we have a

John Clendenning [54:51]:
tool called ignite your rep and this is ignite your reputation all you’re going to do is put your business name in here

John Clendenning [54:56]:
and if I start typing like for example um screaming tree media look at that

John Clendenning [55:03]:
right there put that right um I put the business phone number in and I click show me the score

John Clendenning [55:09]:
it already knows it if your if your address is hidden it may not know it may not find it in Google’s address lookup

John Clendenning [55:14]:
because that’s what that is right but and then you and these are all things you’re going to get from it but it’s

John Clendenning [55:19]:
actually goes deeper than that so I’m going to show you um fill it out you’re going to get a

John Clendenning [55:26]:
personalized visibility report here’s an example one run on Inlet Services right

John Clendenning [55:32]:
so a cleaning service business in Virginia Beach right they just ran one I just pulled it up um so they ran one a

John Clendenning [55:40]:
short while ago uh reputation score social score traffic score website score so not very good these guys need a lot

John Clendenning [55:46]:
of help they’re not number one in their local Marketplace why are they not number one they do not have their

John Clendenning [55:53]:
directories optimized right want to fix this listing click there you can fill out the form will help you fix the

John Clendenning [56:00]:
listings their reputation six reviews their competitor 534 reviews that’s one of

John Clendenning [56:09]:
them 1,99 reviews so bit of an issue they don’t

John Clendenning [56:16]:
have reviews on any other sites we know their phone number is wrong on this on Yelp different there’s their name

John Clendenning [56:22]:
address phone number and there’s a difference and they got nowhere else they are not these they’re not going to rank on Google Maps they’re not going to

John Clendenning [56:28]:
rank on Google Maps um right if they they’ve got they don’t

John Clendenning [56:34]:
have enough reviews to count as a five-star rating but we have it’s been proven that a one star increase can

John Clendenning [56:40]:
increase your Revenue by 5 to 10% that was a Harvard study so if you

John Clendenning [56:45]:
do 300,000 a year right and you increase

John Clendenning [56:50]:
even by half of that you can add $155,000 a year to your business just by

John Clendenning [56:56]:
by increasing your star rating as well just by doing the right job and I’ll show you how you do that going forward

John Clendenning [57:01]:
here in a second um right so they’ve had um only a couple reviews ever there they

John Clendenning [57:09]:
are right there I said they got six they’ve only had they’ve had two reviews in the last month they’re competitors we

John Clendenning [57:15]:
would check those they might have had two reviews three reviews a week so we’ve got a problem they have

John Clendenning [57:21]:
responded to 83% of the reviews yay for them but so all of this stuff we we can
Assess online presence: scores, analytics, visibility, errors.

John Clendenning [57:27]:
check their social scores we can check their um what we do is we check their

John Clendenning [57:32]:
retargeting and their um analytics and their video visibility online right so

John Clendenning [57:38]:
all of this is done it it it takes a while to pull the reports up it runs some AI tools and and stuff like that in the background we actually checked their

John Clendenning [57:44]:
website and and found all the errors on their website why their website won’t rank in very painstaking detail and how

John Clendenning [57:52]:
to fix them then even more important brand voice right so it’s your um your brand

John Clendenning [58:00]:
Authority and visibility in the local Marketplace that determines if you’re the best know cleaner or not right so

John Clendenning [58:05]:
that is your optimize your you know maximize your opportunities maximize your brand Impressions maximize your

John Clendenning [58:11]:
conversions brand voice here is all of the brand voice on their website that’s wrong right and then their their review

John Clendenning [58:18]:
Gap analysis what’s wrong with the reviews their website keyword analysis all of

John Clendenning [58:23]:
this is done for free so so I recommend carpet cleaner marketing masters.com

John Clendenning [58:31]:
scan and you’re going to get one of these reports okay so citations best practice

John Clendenning [58:38]:
manually claim and optimize your Google Maps listing we know that leverage tools to get um directly to at least the top

John Clendenning [58:44]:
50 citations um either a service like ours or tools like exex they’re going to

John Clendenning [58:49]:
be 500 to th000 bucks a month uh or sorry a year but use them they’re well worth it get listed on the major data EG

John Clendenning [58:56]:
ators let’s go back um and use again use tools like bright local um citation

John Clendenning [59:01]:
finder white spark to find your Niche citations here’s an example best

John Clendenning [59:07]:
citations for carpet cleaners um best all site type citations

John Clendenning [59:13]:
and best brand citations right so as an example you want on some of these some of these don’t make sense obviously

John Clendenning [59:19]:
these guys don’t know carpan this is just from whitespark so you don’t want to be listed on stanleysteemer.com we

John Clendenning [59:25]:
know that but what they do know is that’s ranking really high um for for carpet cleaning citations why because

John Clendenning [59:30]:
they got so many locations nationally chem Dr next koite stuff like that right but what we do care about is actually

John Clendenning [59:36]:
making sure that we get on um things like let me see it down

John Clendenning [59:42]:
here locu lou.com um mytime.com go take a look at what

John Clendenning [59:49]:
that is best pick reports like things like that um and then we’re going to make sure we get on super pages and

John Clendenning [59:55]:
porch and Manta and Facebook and YouTube have a YouTube page a YouTube channel and

John Clendenning [1:00:03]:
make sure your name address and phone numbers on that that’s also a citation right you want to be on all of these even if you don’t have to pay for them

John Clendenning [1:00:09]:
right um these specific directories the Issa talked about that right go go reach

John Clendenning [1:00:14]:
out to Jeff Cross and the boys and get become a member it’s paid it’s not that expensive you’ve got lots of training

John Clendenning [1:00:21]:
lots of resources you know lots of savings with vendors and things like

John Clendenning [1:00:26]:
that just by being a member of the Issa um International janitor Cleaning Service Association rug care directories

John Clendenning [1:00:32]:
um car carpet clean directory.com there’s lots of them you want to be on these are just a few of them you want to

John Clendenning [1:00:39]:
be found on all of the directories that Google recommends and respects as

John Clendenning [1:00:44]:
cleaning directories you want lots and lots and lots of real reviews and new

John Clendenning [1:00:49]:
ones coming in every single week you don’t want to fake it and have 15 20 30 reviews come in in like a one or two

John Clendenning [1:00:56]:
week period and none again for a year or two review velocity is more important

John Clendenning [1:01:01]:
than just reviews it’s a more important ranking Factor that’s why somebody who’s got a

John Clendenning [1:01:06]:
thousand reviews and somebody who’s got 30 reviews the guy with 30 reviews might still also be in the three-pack and

John Clendenning [1:01:12]:
might also still be ranking and the guy with a thousand reviews because maybe the guy with a thousand reviews has slowed down and he’s only doing two or

John Clendenning [1:01:19]:
three a week and you’re doing four or five a week Google respects that right strategy for driving consistent reviews

John Clendenning [1:01:26]:
you want to leverage tools to request feedback and we’re going to talk about this word write that down feedback is

John Clendenning [1:01:32]:
really important you want to request feedback that lead to more reviews after every service call and every should

John Clendenning [1:01:38]:
actually be bold as well um you want to leave a print fly or postcard with a QR code on it right you want to maximize

John Clendenning [1:01:44]:
your ability to get more reviews not just on Google you want to get reviews not just your Google Maps listing Google

John Clendenning [1:01:50]:
shows that it knows that you’re you’re getting reviews on Yelp you’re getting reviews on Facebook you’re getting review on the other websites as well

John Clendenning [1:01:57]:
Customer Lobby and uh um um some of the other names are evading

John Clendenning [1:02:04]:
me right now but um yeah you’re going to want you’re going to want reviews on lots of Better Business Bureau Chamber of Commerce um things like that right so
Train technicians to deliver a spa-like experience.

John Clendenning [1:02:12]:
you want to train your technicians to deliver a world class experience and plant the seed what that means is you

John Clendenning [1:02:18]:
know hey ma’am I’m gonna I’m going to do an amazing job here for you today I’m going to you know I’m going to make your house smell fresh look fresh and be

John Clendenning [1:02:25]:
absolutely wonderful again some of our clients actually create a spa-like experience and what I mean by smell

John Clendenning [1:02:30]:
fresh not just your cleaning but they actually give the customer the ability to have a diffuser running while they’re

John Clendenning [1:02:36]:
there um with an essential oil that’s complimentary to the cleaning scent so

John Clendenning [1:02:41]:
your whole house smells clean when we’re done as well right I’d like I’d like to you know set this up some people leave

John Clendenning [1:02:46]:
it behind as a gift interesting think about things like that with they’re branding on it anyways um but you want

John Clendenning [1:02:52]:
to be able to deliver worldclass experience and then say hey and if I if I meet and exceed your expectations here

John Clendenning [1:02:58]:
and make this look amazing and make your house so clean and clean and very healthy for you and your family I’d

John Clendenning [1:03:03]:
really hope that you would be able to give us a review your feedback and a review

John Clendenning [1:03:08]:
feedback and a review um so that other people considering us uh will choose us

John Clendenning [1:03:15]:
over somebody else oh yeah I definitely do that for you Kevin sure James that’s awesome cool we planted the seed now

John Clendenning [1:03:22]:
when we ask at the end of the job it doesn’t feeli a awkward we just said it

John Clendenning [1:03:28]:
then we asked later make a call after the service to walk them through the the feedback and review process so next day

John Clendenning [1:03:34]:
follow-up call is very very critical if you send out a survey which we’ll talk about in a minute to get feedback we

John Clendenning [1:03:40]:
have a whole entire master class on reputation and why feedback is more important than reviews um but if you do

John Clendenning [1:03:45]:
that have your office follow up the day next day or two days later at the most if they didn’t fill it out if they did

John Clendenning [1:03:51]:
fill it out have them follow up thanking them for filling it out and talking about you know other services and just

John Clendenning [1:03:57]:
being friendly um if they didn’t fill it out call and just say hey thanks so much just following up in the work you had

John Clendenning [1:04:03]:
performed by our technician two days ago right give them one day to tr um I notice you haven’t filled out our

John Clendenning [1:04:09]:
feedback survey yet would really re appreciate your input and you’ll be entered into our feedback contest you

John Clendenning [1:04:14]:
can’t run a review contest you can’t incentivize somebody to leave a review but you can if it’s an internal feedback

John Clendenning [1:04:20]:
and that’s the strategy we’re going to talk about in a second um and um if they get them live you walk them through it

John Clendenning [1:04:25]:
can just ask you the questions and fill it out right now and you just fill it out yourself on your end your office staff you get that feedback you’re going

John Clendenning [1:04:32]:
to get more referrals more more um from them you’re going to indoctrinate them

John Clendenning [1:04:37]:
they’re going to be happier with using your services they’re going to feel much better about you because you cared

John Clendenning [1:04:43]:
enough to call back right if you do not call with the next day or two day later um follow-up phone call you are missing

John Clendenning [1:04:49]:
the whole after the sales marketing wing of your business right you want to build review and um recognition into your

John Clendenning [1:04:56]:
company culture anytime you get feedback or reviews your technicians they should get a reward they should get a prize they get a a pad on the back and a

John Clendenning [1:05:03]:
Starbucks gift card or something like that for coffee or whatever that this should be number one is get your

John Clendenning [1:05:10]:
reputation is the most important thing in your business reputation is one of

John Clendenning [1:05:15]:
the most important conversion factors marketing your reputation is one of the most important conversion factors so you

John Clendenning [1:05:21]:
want to make sure it’s a big part of your company as well right you should take it much farther than just than with

John Clendenning [1:05:26]:
with with trust engineering than just generating reviews it’s a strategic and systematic plan to be seen as the expert

John Clendenning [1:05:32]:
and the market leader in your industry trust engineering a term I coined and and trademarked so you have a system to

John Clendenning [1:05:39]:
get feedback from every customer did you know that 70% of your customers will

John Clendenning [1:05:44]:
provide feedback when only about 10% if a company’s got you know 200 reviews

John Clendenning [1:05:51]:
guaranteed they’ve probably seen about 2,000 customers or more right if they’re in incentivizing them they might get

John Clendenning [1:05:57]:
more than that but they could also lose their entire listing so I wouldn’t hey I’ll give you $10 off if you give me a review I wouldn’t do that if that

John Clendenning [1:06:03]:
person’s a local service guide and they call you out on it by just ratting you out to Google your listing can be

John Clendenning [1:06:09]:
permanently suspended because you broke their terms of service anyways so um but

John Clendenning [1:06:15]:
if you ask for feedback you get more online reviews if done properly because the way we do it within our repition

John Clendenning [1:06:21]:
system is we actually after the job within an hour or less the company’s

John Clendenning [1:06:28]:
following up by text and email like to the homeowner so the technician just reminds the customer that’s that’s going

John Clendenning [1:06:33]:
to happen and we’ll talk about that in a second as well and now they follow up now you get feedback which you can use

John Clendenning [1:06:39]:
in all of your marketing just don’t use the person’s full first full first and last name but you do it kind of hip a

John Clendenning [1:06:45]:
compliant you can use that in all of your marketing and you get reviews because the followup is thanks so much for the

John Clendenning [1:06:51]:
feedback I really appreciate it that really helps us grow our company that really helps us internally do a better job at everything we do you can ask a

John Clendenning [1:06:58]:
bunch of really key questions um and you can actually even make make sure make your feedback pay for a marketing company like like ours in full there’s a

John Clendenning [1:07:05]:
way to do that as well um and then you go I’d love it if you don’t mind me doing a favor and here’s the kind words

John Clendenning [1:07:10]:
that you mentioned in your feedback about your experience you can use those or something similar and could you share

John Clendenning [1:07:16]:
those out on any one or all of these platforms and you give them Facebook you

John Clendenning [1:07:22]:
give them Google you give them maybe Better Business Bureau you can’t can’t give them Yelp because Yelp does not

John Clendenning [1:07:27]:
allow you to do direct links or the review get suppressed but what you can do is in the PS and by the way if you’re

John Clendenning [1:07:32]:
a yelper um just go into Yelp and search this you’ll find us and you can write your Yelp review there as well and you

John Clendenning [1:07:39]:
teach them how to search for you but they have to search manually right so you’re going to get more online reviews by asking for

John Clendenning [1:07:45]:
feedback and then again what’s the best tools for automating all of this well we believe it’s our recognition profit

John Clendenning [1:07:50]:
system $2 million in development so far since 2010 this is what I first started doing when when I started doing chamber

John Clendenning [1:07:56]:
presentations everybody’s asking me about this whole reviews and reputation thing I had just started talking about before Google reviews were even a thing

John Clendenning [1:08:03]:
and I knew how powerful it was going to be and we built we we we partnered with a bunch of other guys and built a system right so it’s generating feedback and

John Clendenning [1:08:10]:
reviews and marketing those out as your main marketing message so that people find you as the best known cleaner

John Clendenning [1:08:15]:
everywhere they look other options review Buzz um nearby now Customer Lobby birdy they do parts of this they don’t

John Clendenning [1:08:22]:
do the full plan but they’re options onpage

John Clendenning [1:08:27]:
optimization you want on page on your website is huge for local Maps your website has to talk to your your Google

John Clendenning [1:08:34]:
Maps and your Google Maps has to talk back you have to have things like structured data you have to have um schema on your website you have to have
Optimize website with keywords and embed maps.

John Clendenning [1:08:41]:
a Google Maps in bed you have to make sure that your service category your main service category on Google Maps is

John Clendenning [1:08:49]:
the focus of your main page if you have one location or the focus of your one

John Clendenning [1:08:54]:
your main service page if you have multiple locations right you have to make sure that all of your other services have a page on your website

John Clendenning [1:09:00]:
that tie the two together you have to have a page about each of your services with at least a thousand words on it

John Clendenning [1:09:06]:
really well written High converting but also has got all your proper keywords and your secondary keywords your topical

John Clendenning [1:09:13]:
Authority content so that’s part of your SEO that we talked about making your website work we talked a little bit about on the website um master class

John Clendenning [1:09:20]:
last month and we talked about on the SEO call like several months ago as well but it also ties into Google Map see the

John Clendenning [1:09:27]:
way all this ties together you want to mention keywords cities homepage and in

John Clendenning [1:09:32]:
the title tag and the description of these Pages properly you want to make sure that your website and your Google

John Clendenning [1:09:38]:
Maps are tied together with exact stuff you want to make sure that you’re

John Clendenning [1:09:44]:
posting stuff on your website and then you go to Google Maps and you create a

John Clendenning [1:09:49]:
Google Business post about that linking back to that post on your website whether that’s a blog post or layer two

John Clendenning [1:09:56]:
layer three topical Authority content piece if you don’t even know what I’m talking about with topical Authority content you need to reach out to

John Clendenning [1:10:02]:
somebody and learn because Google does not rank a static website you have to be updating content on your website all the

John Clendenning [1:10:09]:
time done properly and it can’t be AI chat GPT written content that has been caught like crazy now right so service

John Clendenning [1:10:15]:
area pages with links to the cities neighborhoods and points of interest nearby right so you want to have service

John Clendenning [1:10:21]:
area Pages for every service area that you service those think of those 15 Mile

John Clendenning [1:10:27]:
circles think of the cities and neighborhoods around where you are you want a service area page about that that’s going to take six nine 12 months

John Clendenning [1:10:33]:
to start ranking really really well for your business there it’s not a light switch because all your competitors are

John Clendenning [1:10:39]:
trying to do the same thing as well at least the good ones and Google knows that you could be trying to scam them so

John Clendenning [1:10:45]:
they put a bit of a Sandbox suppression on on a new website as well but those service area Pages can have neighborhood

John Clendenning [1:10:51]:
Pages under them so you have all the neighborhoods mentioned and then a page about that neighborhood and a page about

John Clendenning [1:10:56]:
all the point of Interest nearby there’s ways that you can actually teach Google how far and wide you all you you offer

John Clendenning [1:11:04]:
your services um and again full name address phone number in the footer or on a homepage homepage linking to your

John Clendenning [1:11:10]:
Google Maps listing if you depends in local schema we talked about that if you have more than one location you can’t do

John Clendenning [1:11:16]:
this out of the footer you have to have a Str strategy where you’re doing it out of service area Pages if you have only one location you can have the whole

John Clendenning [1:11:23]:
website geared around that one address right so you want to have the onpage optimization you want to have

John Clendenning [1:11:29]:
your badges you want to have your logos you want to make sure everything is listed you want to have your your um again your address but if you open this

John Clendenning [1:11:36]:
up and go look at the code you would see that the code behind that is actually a full schema markup that has about 80

John Clendenning [1:11:42]:
lines of code or 80 lines of schema embedded in it right so it’s not just showing that that’s the only part that’s

John Clendenning [1:11:48]:
visible but all the rest of it teaches about the business you want to make sure that the city and area that you target

John Clendenning [1:11:54]:
is on the page pages that you target right so your service Pages your service area Pages your homepage what you do and

John Clendenning [1:12:02]:
where you do it is the optimization that ties the two together your Google Maps

John Clendenning [1:12:07]:
listing would be linked on your website as well right so title tag this is if

John Clendenning [1:12:13]:
you go to any of these pages and you rightclick on it and you know you look at the um the coding behind it or you

John Clendenning [1:12:19]:
you hit inspect and you look at the coding the title tag is what Google puts up at the top of the browser car and

John Clendenning [1:12:25]:
upholstery cleaning services in Fairfield Utah as an example right um

John Clendenning [1:12:31]:
and then name description we provide quality services in Fairfield Utah as an

John Clendenning [1:12:36]:
example on the pages right um so there’s a lot of pieces that we need

John Clendenning [1:12:42]:
to tie together what we’ve covered so far our four-step formula for getting your business ranked we talked about

John Clendenning [1:12:49]:
that earlier the number one issue that preventing your company from ranking on Google Maps in your area

John Clendenning [1:12:56]:
and that would be your your your nap citation and the key ingredients for the top three listings and how to leverage

John Clendenning [1:13:04]:
it to get um long-term results right we covered those those topics our proven formula to get in the
Optimize Google listing with reviews and citations.

John Clendenning [1:13:12]:
three-pack claim and optimize your Google listing get your citations right lots of real reviews and get your

John Clendenning [1:13:17]:
website on page optimization done perfectly as well so just over

John Clendenning [1:13:25]:
we typically go about an hour and 15 minutes we’re almost right on time what are your takeaways what did you learn

John Clendenning [1:13:31]:
from this what are the things that you need to do to your Google listing do you need to do an audit do you need to reach

John Clendenning [1:13:36]:
out do you need to do what do you need to do next to make sure that you are showing up for carpet cleaning pollster

John Clendenning [1:13:41]:
cleaning tile cleaning area rug cleaning all of those Services out of your Google Maps listing do you need to carve out a

John Clendenning [1:13:48]:
separate business for some of your services like the duck cleaning that will never really rank well under carpet cleaning or maid service and things like

John Clendenning [1:13:54]:
that janitorial like what do you need to do what did you get away take away from this are you answering every single one

John Clendenning [1:14:00]:
of your reviews are you asking every single customer for feedback and reviews are you trying to cherry-pick that oh they’re not happy I’m not going to ask

John Clendenning [1:14:06]:
them no if you ask everybody for feedback and some of them is negative feedback you’ve prevented them from

John Clendenning [1:14:11]:
writing a review on their own anyways around the web so you want to have feedback first review second and all of

John Clendenning [1:14:17]:
that so write down your takeaways you you you have to come away with this with at least an action plan implementation

John Clendenning [1:14:23]:
is everything that’s actually a tring course I have part of our coaching program implementation is everything how

John Clendenning [1:14:28]:
do you implement things how do you use critical thinking and um you know and um

John Clendenning [1:14:35]:
first principles to work your way backwards to uh to to to implement something right I guess carb cleaners

John Clendenning [1:14:41]:
we’re cleaning business owners we still have to be entrepreneurs and business owners and we have to learn these things how do we put thing Motion in motion a

John Clendenning [1:14:48]:
way to upgrade our company that every single month every single quarter every single year we’re upgrading the company

John Clendenning [1:14:55]:
multiple different ways locking in new strategies putting them in place and moving on to the next moving on good

John Clendenning [1:15:01]:
better best good better best good better best right we’re working through all of it we come back around again and back

John Clendenning [1:15:07]:
around again I was in I ran my carpet cleaning business for 27 years I came back around again and back around again

John Clendenning [1:15:13]:
to every single referral strategy every single offer every single um Outreach strategy every single thing that we did

John Clendenning [1:15:20]:
as soon as Google Maps shows up and other platforms okay let’s learn that platform oh no there’s now next door

John Clendenning [1:15:26]:
what do we do on next door back again good better best let’s get something good minimum viable product then let’s

John Clendenning [1:15:32]:
have it on my my list to come back again we are the marketers of cleaning services first and foremost if you just

John Clendenning [1:15:38]:
go out and clean and you break your ankle are you in business anymore is

John Clendenning [1:15:43]:
your family fed right if you if you go decide to take two weeks off or a month

John Clendenning [1:15:49]:
off and go golfing or go see castles around the world is your business still making money because you built a business that

John Clendenning [1:15:56]:
within 1 2 3 5 years is fully self- sustainable generating 2030 $40,000 a

John Clendenning [1:16:02]:
month in a town of a 100,000 to 500,000 people that’s what you can do with this

John Clendenning [1:16:07]:
if you do it right it’s a program and a plan and a system how do I know because

John Clendenning [1:16:13]:
there it is it’s exactly what it looks like you need to have a a a digital

John Clendenning [1:16:18]:
dominance plan a marketing plan an online and offline plan a how you’re going to convert more people when they

John Clendenning [1:16:25]:
call are you are you tracking those numbers I know it sounds like a lot and it is a lot owning a business is not

John Clendenning [1:16:31]:
easy or everybody would do it only like less than 20% of businesses carpet cleaners last the first five years less

John Clendenning [1:16:38]:
than 20% of them last the next five years so you’re part of a four to five% crowd if you’re more than 10 years in

John Clendenning [1:16:44]:
business even if you’re running year one the 10th time you’re you’re no busier or bigger than you were in the first year

John Clendenning [1:16:49]:
or two right you haven’t grown you haven’t done anything different you haven’t if you get the marketing right

John Clendenning [1:16:55]:
you get this right you’re buying out if you’re in a small town you’re buying out the local maid service and the local

John Clendenning [1:17:00]:
pressure washer and the local window cleaner and you’re expanding into a conglomerate and and technicians and

John Clendenning [1:17:05]:
teens if you want to right or you’re upping your prices so high that you only need to do one job a day and it’s $800

John Clendenning [1:17:10]:
to thousand dollars a day right you’ve got that option as well because you’re sought after there are ways to play this
Niche upholstery cleaning in affluent Florida area.

John Clendenning [1:17:16]:
game in small towns ways to play this game in large towns um talking to a guy not that long ago all he does is

John Clendenning [1:17:23]:
upholstery cleaning in a very opulent area in Florida doesn’t want to do carpet cleaning doesn’t want to do um

John Clendenning [1:17:31]:
tile cleaning and all that equipment lays out drop cloths creates a spa-like environment in the home knows how to

John Clendenning [1:17:38]:
clean Haitian cotton and silks and rayons talks to every interor designer does boats and Yachts and and all of

John Clendenning [1:17:44]:
that kind of stuff and all they do is upholstery cleaning set up a table set up a workspace and their average job is

John Clendenning [1:17:51]:
over $1,000 in a marketplace where carpet cleaners barely get2 or $300 to do like

John Clendenning [1:17:56]:
a couch love seat and chair same Marketplace but they carve themselves out as one type of service right so you

John Clendenning [1:18:04]:
can do this the in a big area you can go deep in a small area you can go wide but there’s the plan and that’s how you do

John Clendenning [1:18:10]:
it you get it right you grow the business if you need some coaching and Consulting and things like that pretty

John Clendenning [1:19:32]:
truck operation versus you know Witchita Kansas and you run a one or two truck operation the amount of effort you need

John Clendenning [1:19:39]:
to stay active and growing is quite different the amount of Outreach your office staff needs to do or even we have

John Clendenning [1:19:46]:
call centers that we work with very closely that we teach scripts you all they do is answer your phones and book

John Clendenning [1:19:51]:
you book your jobs work in service monster and house call pros and you just go out and do the cleaning so you can do the marketing and work on your business

John Clendenning [1:19:57]:
and let somebody else answer the phones you should never be answering your phones while driving a truck or talking to a customer that should not be your

John Clendenning [1:20:03]:
job you you should not leave your phones going to answer machine or your text messages coming in that aren’t responded to within one to two minutes during

John Clendenning [1:20:10]:
business hours if any of that is in your world harp Clin marketing masters.com

John Clendenning [1:20:16]:

John Clendenning [1:20:21]:

John Clendenning [1:20:28]:

John Clendenning [1:20:45]:
office of the company I sold right my the team that we do digital marketing is actually all over the world um so we run

John Clendenning [1:20:52]:
remotely and I kept a corner office at the building after I sold the carpet cleaning company so I mean I’m in the

John Clendenning [1:20:58]:
